my father-in-law had a heart attack yesterday and while it looks like he will be ok, he will not be visiting at the end of the month. have to figure out who might be going from here and when.
makes it seem foolish to consider going elsewhere for a sabbatical when we have such finite time to spend together. 
fortunately the Israeli consulate here was really fast on the return of almond joy's passport and release from the army. so she's ok to go if that's what we decide.
sigh.
