a good day all around. and who knows why I'm just plain happy? there's plenty of grading ahead. I guess this weekend is still relatively light; by next weekend half of the final essays will be on my desk.
we all went to a nearby Vietnamese restaurant for dinner. enough left over for a few days.some tension between mr. t and my daughter since she still wants to come back from Israel early and he's not changing his mind (actually he said if I would come back, it would be ok, but she doesn't seem to be angry with me for my part in this decision).
wrestling and baseball this weekend. where did it say in my life vision that this is how I'd be spending my Saturdays? watching wrestling. yow. and my son approaches it as he does chess. it's all about strategy. still, I'm not a fan of any sport where you get weighed in the morning, get your weight written on your arm, and go around with that showing all day long. not for me. no. no.
the teaching circle final meeting went pretty well. now I just have a lot of individual meetings. those tend to be interesting. I think that in spite of teaching, I'm really a very introverted person. this week was a high contact, very densely booked week with students and teaching circle and other meetings and I just sort of reel with that much contact. I could be fine with more book time and less people time. that's why it's sort of ironic that I get a whole 3 credit teaching reassignment for meeting with other teachers one-on-one. for me this contact has certainly provided some of the glue of community here.
and I still have 5 books to read fast. what am in graduate school? no, I assigned my ws students to read "short books" of the seminal sort in pairs and they'll present next week. I have to read A Room of One's Own, S/He, Writing a Woman's Life, Ain't I a Woman and Reading Lolita in Teheran this weekend. Some I've read at one point in the past. others will be new to me. yes, this is what I needed to do in the last week of the semester.
but first, Deltora Quest -- book 6 -- which I am reading with my son!
great music coming down from upstairs - oldies from Israel.
have a good weekend.
Good book choices! Though I'm not sure Lolita in Tehran is a short book in regards to the others! I'm teaching it this summer.
