I've been thinking about Joanna's meme - 5 things that I do daily that contribute to my success - for days. Even after I read Nel's response which goes on to add the 5 things he'd like to see himself do, I still couldn't complete it. Clancy's version reminded me of what I would probably have been doing 2-3 years ago, at least the professional parts, not so much the crafts!
So here it is:
1. I usually have gas in the car. This does not come easily.
2. Breakfast: I am not a pleasant person without protein early in the day.
3. Reading: sometimes I'm not sure how this helps, but since my sanity seems to be involved, I guess the reading that I do must be helpful. I read a lot: books, magazines, daily papers. Often I don't know where an ILL book is coming from since I tend to order anything I see recommended. By the time it arrives, I'm clueless. I read it anyway.
4. Communicating: I suspect that I talk to mr. t. about 4 - 6 times a day while we are at work or driving kids. Plus, of course, talking to him when we finally meet up at home. In addition, I think that I listen well to my kids so that communication continues. I also talk to a sibling every other day or so.
5. The bills are paid. This is becoming easier with online payments, so I think I've finally moved away from chronic panic about misplacing bills or not being sure about what's due when.
Now for the wish I was doing side:
1. repeating a mantra seems important and when I did do that, I remember the centering and serenity. Yoga on a weekly basis also helps.
2. eating right and exercising. there's usually a salad made in the refrigerator, but I could be doing so much better with this. swimming? could have gone this morning with almond joy, but didn't have the energy.
3. community. need to foster more of this.
4. decluttering. I'm overwhelmed by the stuff in the house.
5. preparing in advance: esp courses. just-in-time pedagogy leaves me fried.
feel free to think about it. considered yourself tagged.

I miss mantras and yoga too. Must get back to those!

This has been really interesting to think about... it's a little scary how blank I initally was (and still am to some degree) on the first part.

I also thought it would be fairly easy and I was discouraged by how many things I thought I do but don't really. Nonetheless, I like the underlying assumption that I am doing certain activities that are conducive to success.

I am still trying to figure out what it is that I am successful at.

I'm with jo(e). I look at this meme and think, "Am I successful? At what?" So I can't even move on to the project of figuring out how my habits contribute to that success.
